Remembrance tourism

And exploring the coal mining area

Do you like remembrance tourism? Along the "Nord-Pas de Calais remembrance trails”, you’ll be able to explore the legacy that the combat during the First World War left in the region. The serenity and beauty of the sites each tell a story in the history of the war, be it that of a soldier, a troop, a battle or a location.

Do you like learning about the history of mining?  If so, visit the Mining History Centre in Lewarde,  France's largest mining museum. Seeing around 150,000 visitors each year, it retraces the history of the Nord-Pas de Calais Mining Basin, which is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
